D.E. presents the ULTIMATE Red Sonja!

The opening issue of this new, ongoing series finds Sonja on an epic quest; a quest to rid the world of an ancient evil. And a quest that places her in battle between the Zeddas and the Kingdom of Gathia. The legend of Red Sonja begins here! This story re-introduces Red Sonja to the world of comics, and is a classic in the making!

Sonja rescues a messenger from savages who have attacked him on the road. She agrees to accompany him home to Gathia but, when he later dies from drinking tainted water, she decides to deliver the message herself. She is allowed into the great walled city but the locals aren’t to happy with the bad news she has to tell them.

On February 26, 2021, the Hollywood Reporter announced that Tasha Huo was selected to write a new film based on Red Sonja. On May 5, 2021, the same publication announced that Hannah John-Kamen was cast as the titular character. On June 3, 2021, The Illuminerdi reported that Sacha Baron Cohen was cast as Kulan Gath, a character from the Conan the Barbarian Marvel comics and in the Red Sonja Dynamite comics. The movie is scheduled to begin filming in 2022.

M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) is directing from a script by Joey Soloway (Transparent) and Tasha Huo (Netflix’s Tomb Raider). Pic’s producers are Mark Canton (300, Power), Courtney Solomon (Cake, After), Luke Lieberman on behalf of Red Sonja LLC, Millennium Media’s Les Weldon, Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger and Yariv Lerner, and Joe Gatta (Out of the Furnace, Conan the Barbarian).
