Boba Fett appeared in the animated segment of the non-canon 1978 Holiday Special, set after the events of A New Hope. This marks his first appearance in the franchise.

The Book of Boba Fett is a spin-off of The Mandalorian focused on Boba Fett, which premiered on Disney+ on December 29, 2021. Morrison and Ming-Na Wen reprised their roles as Fett and Fennec Shand, respectively, with Finnegan Garay portraying a young Fett with Daniel Logan’s likeness superimposed over his own. In The Book of Boba Fett, Boba Fett and his partner, Fennec Shand, begin rebuilding the old criminal empire of Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine.

Favreau discussed the spin-offs in Aug 2022, explaining that Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew were all set in the same timeframe—during the 30 years between Return of the Jedi and Star Wars Force Awakens (2015)—which had “a lot of room for us to tell stories, and there are a lot of characters that are in play because we know who’s around at that time”. He noted that they were using The Mandalorian to remind fans of these characters or introduce them to unfamiliar audiences before they appeared in the spin-off series, which created interconnected stories and characters within a “very rich fabric for us to explore”.

In Dece 2020, it was revealed that The Mandalorian and its related series were planned to culminate in a “climactic story event”. At Star Wars Celebration London in April 2023, it was announced that Filoni was directing and writing a feature film that would serve as the conclusion to the interconnected stories of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, among others. Filoni is expected to begin work on the film following the second season of Ahsoka.

In Jan 2024, Lucasfilm announced the film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, continuing the stories established in the Mandalorian series. Favreau was set to direct, co-write with Filoni, and produce with Kennedy and Filoni.
