Shadow Show: Stories in Celebration of Ray Bradbury #2 (regular cover – Charles Paul Wilson III)

Neil Gaiman & Mort Castle, Audrey Niffenegger & Eddie Campbell (w)
Maria Frohlich, Campbell (a)

In Shadow Show, acclaimed writers and come together to pay tribute to the work of the one and only Ray Bradbury!

The first story featured is “The Man Who Forgot Ray Bradbury,” written by Neil Gaiman with art by Maria Frohlich, which peers into the mind of a man who sifts through his own memories in an attempt to recover the name of a famous sci-fi author.

The next story, “Backward in Seville,” brings together the singular talents of Audrey Niffenegger and Eddie Campbell to tell a small tale of a woman’s regrets and the new life that awaits her.

The very idea of this comic makes me terribly, terribly happy––an ode to a writer I hold near and dear to my literary heart? Yes please. I stumbled upon this book in a bookstore display of Halloween stories, and snatched it up quickly, eager to consume what lay inside.

The collection contains a varied selection of writers–each with a unique style of storytelling.

I would absolutely recommend this comic book to anybody who has read and loved Ray Bradbury. While it is not the same as reading a beloved Bradburian tale, it is a nice homage to a dearly missed creative force.
