Yes, Death has died–as all the gods do in Zander’s tale–and the quest to find the replacement god begin. Will it be prophisized boy, Knute? Or will the power hungry King Ursus elevate himself into godhood to keep his reign ongoing for another thousand years? Or, will the beatnik visgoths throw a monkey wrench in the entire scheme of things? The Replacement God is an excellent read and despite it’s fantasy elements, readers who typically do not like knights, castles, etc., won’t notice the setting at all.

While rich in detail, this graphic novel attains a level of readability that does not require you to be a student of ancient languages. Cannon weds engaging characters, fairy tale storylines and a light-touched irreverence for the sacred into a very entertaining read.
