Faster Than Light is a science fiction comic book series that blends the feel of Star Trek and Stargate SG1.

In this story Earth has recently developed faster than light propulsion technology based on a secret alien message they received. However along with this new technology there was a warning of a grave threat that would soon place Earth in peril. To thwart this threat the governments of Earth have hastily built a deep space exploration ship to seek out new allies and technologies that can help defend Earth. This first volume focuses on the launch of the ship and the first few encounters humanity has with aliens and new exotic technologies that they barely comprehend.

Overall I feel this story has a great deal of potential and strikes a nice balance between Star Trek style exploration and a Stargate style mission. The story is still pretty early so we haven’t really gotten to know the cast of characters very well, but they seem like they have the potential to be interesting. The aliens and worlds they visit are strange and unique enough to convey a sense of mystery and conveys a nice sense of mystery about the universe.

I am hopeful and optimistic about this series and look forward to reading future volumes!
