Sunstorm attempts to execute Bumblebee using his glowing touch, but the activation of this ability causes Sunstorm’s wrists to explode—the power within Sunstorm no longer controllable. Blaming Starscream for his malfunction, Sunstorm unleashes his fire against his brother, who is saved only at the last moment by a dive from Jetfire. If bright colors are nature’s way of saying “do not touch”, then nature’s got nothin’ on Sunstorm. Come too close, and circuits will short, steel housing will begin to melt, and psyches will break as the mind struggles to comprehend. Science would explain that his body is aflame in radiation, but Sunstorm has different ideas. Sometimes, Sunstorm merely believes he is secretly some kind of supernatural being, keeping his comrades away with his odd behavior. At other times, he thinks that he is the living embodiment of the Will of Primus, placed by the divine in this universe to deal righteous judgment on the blasphemous. Occasionally, he just hovers silently in the background and shoots at things. Such is life. Jetfire is a bot of science, literally. Not only is his mind dedicated towards scientific pursuits, but his body is a testament to the technology he studies so intensely. (Some would say “religiously”, but not in his presence.) Every inch of his chassis is cutting-edge and kept up-to-date. However, he does not have the trust of his teammates; it was not so long ago that he was a Decepticon. Jetfire is compassionate, so some Autobots feel that he could be soft on their enemies or, even worse, he may turn on them after realizing his “cold calculations” swing the other way. Jetfire would find their misconceptions about science appalling. After all, is not science just the pursuit of truth? And truth, he maintains, walks hand-in-hand with liberty. He is sometimes known as Skyfire.
