The Astonishing Power of Emotions Hardcover
by Esther Hicks (Author), Jerry Hicks (Author)

This leading-edge book by Esther and Jerry Hicks, who present the teachings of the Non-Physical entity Abraham, will help you understand the emotions that you’ve been experiencing all of your life. Instead of the out-of-control, knee-jerk reactions that most people have to their ever-changing life experience, this work will put those responses into a broader context. You’ll come to understand what emotions are, what each of them means, and how to effectively utilize your new awareness of them.

As you read, you’ll come to appreciate, and make peace with, where you are right now, even though there is so much more that you may desire. Every thought you absorb will bring you to a greater understanding of your own personal value and will show you how to open your own doors to whatever you may wish to be, do, or have. And as you turn the last page of this book, you will very likely find yourself thinking, I have always known this, but now, I know this!

I’m one of those “New Age” types who’s read countless self-help and spiritual books, attended many seminars, and absorbed dozens and dozens of CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and so on. In short, I’m a “seeker”. So I feel confident in saying that the informaiton that Abraham has been giving out over the last 20 years is among the very best available in English. Clear, practical, and worldly guidance is founded on the most remarkable esoteric wisdom. Abraham opens my eyes and refreshes my mind like almost no other source.

“The Astonishing Power of Emotions” is a fine entry in the series of Abraham’s teachings. A few short chapters up front lay out the “big ideas” that underlie most of their work, and the rest of the book devotes a short, specific section to each of twenty or so of life’s most distressing problems. Health issues, weight loss issues, trouble with kids, spouses, friends, business partners; money concerns; loss and grief; job and career difficulties.

The advice is consistent, postive, uplifting and practical. All of the suggestions would be easy and simple for most everyone to follow, and I think apply to a wide range of people. I found value in every section, even those devoted to problems that have never entered my life. I keep reading passages to friends and family–it’s one of those books that I’d like to share with everyone I love.

My favorite statement from the book, and one of its core concepts, is “Nothing that you want is upstream.” I’m making it my life’s motto.

Tetris by Nintendo

Beams boxes zig-zags and L-shaped block drop down a narrow passage. Feel your pulse quicken as you spin shift and align the shapes for a perfect fit. It’s challenging and demands a split second decision!

Originally developed on a Russian DCC clone PDP Computer by a humble employee of the Moscow Academy of Sciences, Alexey Pajitnov’s mega hit succeeds where other puzzle games have failed: by keeping it simple. Seven blocks, known as Tetraminoes, and one empty “well” quickly translate into hopeless addiction. There are few games that haunt you even after you stop playing — but 30 minutes with this puzzle masterpiece and you’ll see Tetris pieces wherever you look. No matter what platform it’s on, Tetris remains one of the purest and accessible videogames ever made, proving that some of the most addictive games are the simplest.

Exciting puzzle game
Fast-paced fun
Catchy music
Increasing difficulty and speeds
For 1 or 2 players

Tetris is a simple puzzle game for all age groups. The play control is excellent and the game is very easy to pickup and play. The object is simple just make as many solid lines out of the falling blocks as possible. A Tetris is basically when you clear 4 lines at once. You score points for single, double, triple and Quadruple lines. The Gameboy screen and NES Tetris games would only let you get 2 Tetris’s at once before you reached the ceiling causing a game over.

Tetris is a never ending game but you do have goals and cut scenes to achieve. For instance on the “B” level once you play level 9 stage 1-5 each time you beat a level mariachi musician plays a fun little tune for you. Each level you beat a band member gets added. Once you get to the hardest setting 9-5B if you win you get the full mariachi band playing and a full size space shuttle launch. It is a little different than on the NES version where you get to see the classic Nintendo characters Samus, Link, Mario etc after beating each round. The gameboy 9-5 level is a little more forgiving than the NES counterpart of the same level. But both provide a nice challenge and keep you playing until you are able to beat the stage.

On the standard game “A” level you can choose between starting at levels 0-9 after that the blocks just increase speed past level 9. You basically play for a highest score but the longer you play the bigger rocket you get past 10,000 points. So if you break the 10,000 barrier you get a small white rocket, 15,000 a little bigger black and white rocket, 20,000 look like an ICBM. 25,000 you get a big huge black rocket which is pretty cool. You just need to adjust to the speed of the falling blocks.

I had one game going for over an hour on level 9 and I am not even sure what rocket I ended up with but it was a pretty decent high score. I wish I would have written it down. I could have kept playing but my eyes and thumbs were getting tired. That is not an everyday thing just happened to be hitting a ton of Tetris’s in a row on that high speed setting.

The point is Tetris is a wonderful portable game with a high replay value. The action is constant the tunes are pretty fun and the game is great to play against your friends. The rocket cut scenes are a nice break in the action reminding me of Ms. Pac Man.

The man who’s bringing the unlikely-sounding Tetris movie to the big screen, Larry Kasanoff confirms yes, this film is real; yes, it’s the beginning of a possibly new franchise.

Is this, as rumours have suggested, designed as the first in a trilogy – or Tetr-ilogy, if you will – of Tetris movies? “That’s correct,” he confirms, “and purely because the story we conceived is so big. This isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story.”

The filmmaker, whose CV includes Paul W.S. Anderson’s Mortal Kombat and an exec-producer credit on True Lies, is keen to stress that it won’t just involve anthropomorphised blocks doing battle. “We’re not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie,” he tells Empire, “but it’s great that people think so. It sets the bar rather low!”

The production, currently going by ‘Untitled Tetris Sci-fi Project’ on IMDb, is conceived as exactly that. “We want the story to be a surprise, but it’s a big science-fiction movie,” Kasanoff reveals. “I came up with the idea as I was thinking about Tetris and the theme of creating order out of chaos”.
